About the Item
Michel Comte and Milk: A Collaboration 1996-2016 Hardcover in Box.For more than 35 years, photographer Michel Comte (born 1954) has been one of the most in-demand editorial and fashion photographers in the world. Since 2006, he has worked almost exclusively with Milk Studios on photography and film projects. With the advantage of a base of operations at the Milk Studios in New York City and Los Angeles, Comte has found the freedom to work outside of and transcend the limitations of the traditional "fashion photographer" role, working in fashion, portraiture, reportage and now motion pictures. "Whether Michel has a Hollywood celebrity or an orphan from the Third World in front of his lens," said Tina Brown, former editor-in-chief of the New Yorker, "he takes both their pictures with the same sincerity and devotion." Published on the occasion of the 20-year anniversary of Milk Studios, this deluxe clothbound volume was designed by creative director Mike Meiré, whose own 25-year career working at the nexus of culture and design is the stuff of legend. Featuring images from Comte’s legendary archive, including previously unpublished behind-the-scenes imagery and film stills, Michel Comte and Milk: A Collaboration 1996–2016 is a celebration of passion, storytelling and the creative process.First Edition, First Printing. Published by Damiani/MILK, 2015. Folio. Pictorial boards in box. Book is like new; clean with no writing or names. Sharp corners and spine straight. Binding tight and pages crisp. Collection of photographs by Michael Comte.

Inez van Lamsweerde/Vinoodh Matadin, Pretty Much Everything
By M/M Paris, Vinoodh Matadin, Inez van Lamsweerde
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Two artists, one vision.
The enigmatic and genre-defying work of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
“It is typical of the photographic art of van Lamsweerde and Matadin that they urge their image making to de-stabilize the pristine surfaces expected of consumer culture; to this end they make use, in turn, of the Gothic, inscrutability, androgyny, comedy, eroticism, surrealism, fantasy, montage, cinema, replication, image manipulation, Pop Art, fetishism and art historical nuance.” —Michael Bracewell, from the introduction
Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s work has graced the walls and pages of some of the world’s finest galleries and fashion magazines, and if it is surprising that their photographs easily float between these worlds, it is by Virtue of their ease in creating imagery that seeks homes in both culturally elite and mainstream outlets. For some of their photographs, such as their portrait of Bjo¨rk or Campaign for Givenchy, van Lamsweerde and Matadin have worked in collaboration with the art directors M/M (Paris), who have also designed this sumptuous two-volume retrospective set that looks back at “pretty much everything” that the photographers have been working on for over two decades and has brought them to the forefront in the fields of both art and fashion.
Limited Collector’s Edition of 1,000 copies, each numbered and signed by the artists.
Two-volume retrospective with 666 photographs of “pretty much everything” that the photographers have been working on for over two decades.
Additional reader with interviews and texts about the photographic œuvre of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
Entire set designed by the artists’ longtime collaborators M/M (Paris) and includes original silkscreened poster, origami-folded over the top corner of the slipcase.
Also available in two Art Editions of 100 copies each including two signed and numbered photographic prints.
The designer:
Established in Paris in 1992, M/M (Paris) is an art and design partnership consisting of Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag. They are best known for their art direction and collaborations with musicians, fashion designers, and contemporary artists, including Bjo¨rk, Madonna, Yohji Yamamoto, Balenciaga, Pierre...

Annie Leibovitz, XXL Edition Book
By Annie Leibovitz, TASCHEN
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Annie’s Big Book.
40 years of era-defining photography, now in an accessible edition.
When Benedikt Taschen asked the most important portrait photographer working today, Annie Leibovitz, to collect her pictures in a SUMO-sized book, she was intrigued by the challenge. The project took several years to develop and when it was finally published in 2014, it weighed in at 26 kg (57 pounds).
This incredible collection is now available in an accessible XXL book format.
Leibovitz drew on more than 40 years of work, starting with the photojournalism she did for Rolling Stone magazine in the 1970s through the conceptual portraits she made for Vanity Fair and Vogue. She selected iconic images—such as John Lennon and Yoko Ono entwined in a last embrace—as well as portraits that had rarely, if ever, been seen before.
The Annie Leibovitz SUMO...
