1864-96 The Works of R. D. Blackmore
By Richard Doddridge Blackmore
Located in Bath, GB
A superb set of mostly first editions of the novels of R. D. Blackmore, a nice set uncommon to see of the late Victorian's writings. Fourteen works by R. D. Blackmore in thirty-five volumes. Very scarce to see Blackmore's works in a set. Smartly bound in a half morocco binding by W. J. Mansell. This smart set includes almost the complete works of Blackmore. Blackmore was one of the most famous novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century, best remember today for his 'Lorna Doone'. This set includes; 'Clara Vaughan', complete in three volumes, published in 1864. The very scarce first edition. Half-title is present to each volume. Original publisher's cloth bound in the rear of each volume. Two pages of adverts to the rear of Volume III. 'Cradock Nowell', complete in three volumes, published in 1866. The uncommon first edition. 'The Maid of Sker', complete in three volumes, published in 1872. The very scarce first edition. Half-title is present to each volume. 'Alice Lorraine', incomplete in two volumes, being Volumes II and III of a total of III volumes, thus lacking Volume I. Published in 1875. 'Cripps the Carrier', complete in three volumes, published in 1876. The very scarce first edition. 'Erema', complete in three volumes, published in 1877. The uncommon first edition. Half-title is present to each volume. 'Mary Anerley', complete in three volumes, published in 1880. The uncommon first edition. Half-title is present to Volume I. 'Christowell', complete in three volumes, published in 1882. The scarce first edition. 'Tommy Upmore', complete in two volumes, published in 1884. The spine of Volume II mistakenly numbered it as Volume III. The uncommon first edition. 'Springhaven', complete in three volumes, published in 1887. The fourth edition. Half-title is present to Volumes II and III. 'Springhaven', complete in one volume, published in 1889. A new and cheaper edition with illustrations by Alfred Parsons...
