Michael Graves Postmodern Chess and Checkers Set. Original postmodern Michael Graves chess and checkers set. Maple wood chess and checkers set with board and box by famed architect Michael Graves. Michael Graves was a Memphis Group designer and a member of the New York Five. Graves was a noted American architect and designer and a professor at Princeton University for 4 decades. Each chess and pawn piece is signed Graves. The resin resin chess and pawn pieces in faux ebony and faux ivory. Board attached to the box with velvet storage compartments inside for the players when you wish to use the checkers game part. Complete set. Dimensions: Board: 18 inches L x 18 inches D x 2.75 inches H Largest chess piece (King): 3 inches; tall Smallest chess piece (Pawn) 1 inch tall, Circa 1990.
