About the Item

Carl Zeiss blc Flak 12 x 60 binoculars. A beautiful set of WW2 binoculars in excellent condition made in Germany during World War 2. These were designed to be used in conjunction with a 4 meter long range finder for directing heavy Flak guns. At the start of WWII, Germany wanted to keep the makers of its military equipment secret and assigned each company with a letter code to which 'blc' was assigned to the Carl Zeiss of Jena Company. The 'Em4mR40' denotes that the binocular is to be used with the space-effect rangefinder 4mE (R) 40 which required two men on the computing device coupled with it, and a man with the control box and machine set for the device and transmission current. The optics themselves are clear and functional, the binoculars retain all the original name plates and details, all mechanical functions such as the thumb screw for fine adjustment of the the rain guard / eye shade are working as they should. This set is fitted with the original adjustable and variable eye shades for use in all daytime and darker light conditions. The tripod supplied is a Swiss Wild GST 20 heavy duty tripod which are of superior quality, we have also included cups for the footings which are lined with a felt pad to protect any delicate surfaces.
