Top Quality Hand Carved Antique Oak Saint or Holy Man Sculpture W Missing Hands

Late 1800s, hand-carved oak sculpture of a Saint or clergyman. Sometimes we find antique sculptures / works of religious art of such good quality that we simply need to purchase it, even if we don't know who they are. There are many people in the world who know much more about all the Saints than we do and they will probably immediately recognize the beautiful and calm facial features of this holyman. If you look at the empathetic expression on this finest carved Saint's face and you see the quality of the details then you too will realize why this can only be the work of a master carver/sculptor. And it is not just his face, because the natural and perfect body posture combined with the exceptional proportions of this antique sculpture could not be more realistic either. With all of these things taken into account we are certain that you will agree that this finest workmanship Saint sculpture is another one of our 'antiques with a soul'. Because of the missing hands, we have priced it so favourably that this stunning and sizable antique can be owned by people with a lower budget as well. Unique Handcrafted Lifesize Bronze Bust Sculpture of Our Dutch Painter Rembrandt
Located in Lisse, NL
Rare, large and stunning bronze bust of Holland's most famous painter. When we first saw this truly large, great looking and very well made bronze sculpture of Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606-1669) we immediately knew we had to have it. Also, because bronze sculptures of Rembrandt really are a rare find. We have searched the worldwide web and we learned that there is not another one of this large bronze busts to be found anywhere in the world. Judging from the material, the patina and the way it was hand-crafted we date this work of art to 1960-1980 and this bust must have been made for either a private collector, an art institution/museum or perhaps for the owner of a gallery. Anyone who understands what it takes to create a bronze sculpture of this size and quality knows that this Rembrandt bust...

Five Renaissance Revival Double Benches, Boston Public Library, 19th Century
By Charles Follen McKim
Located in Essex, MA
Five carved oak Renaissance Revival freestanding, double benches deigned and installed in the Bates Room of the Boston Public Library by Charles Follen McKim of the architectural firm, "McKim, Mead and White." Four Lion Leg and Scroll Supports. Once topped with a seat cushion. A rare opportunity to own a piece of Boston's architectural and cultural history. These double benches with carved lion paw legs and paneled sides once graced the Bates Room of the Boston Public Library. Comparable reading tables are still in use at the BPL with identical lion paw and scroll motif. These were salvaged in the 1970s and have remained in storage until now. Charles Follen McKim's design shows influence from a number of architectural precedents. McKim drew explicitly on the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève in Paris (designed by Henri Labrouste, built 1845 to 1851) for the general arrangement of the facade that fronts on Copley Square, but his detailing of that facade's arcaded windows owes a clear debt to the side elevations of Leon Battista Alberti's Tempio Malatestiano in Rimini. The open-air courtyard at the center of the building is based closely on that of the sixteenth-century Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome; in its center is a copy of the, once controversial, statue Bacchante and Infant Faun...
