American Chippendale Rare Miniature Slant Front Desk w/ original Brasses c1780s
About the Item
This rare and important slant top desk is an exceptional example of a miniature piece of furniture. Bearing all the desirable features of a Chippendale, this desk has a dovetailed two drawer arrangement with the top drawer a bit less tall and less wide compared to the bottom drawer, with both surrounded with molding. Open the slant top and you will see four pigeon holes inside. The principle wood is mahogany and since the secondary wood is pine it is probably an American piece.
It retains the original brasses and the slide-out loper supports are still functioning.
This is truly one of the finest miniatures we have had in our fifty seven years in business.
