About the Item

Exquisite builder’s half model of the lawley built three masted Schooner migrant. Designed by Henry Gielow migrant was the largest yacht in the world at the time and was built at a cost exceeding one million dollars. The model has incredible detail from bow to stern. The cabin work is highly detailed. The deck is adorned with carefully executed brass fittings from bow to stern. Fittings include winches, portholes, chocks, pulleys, davits, anchors, stove pipe, etc. The rigging is beyond compare. Carefully carved wood sails are fitted to the three masts and bowsprit. Migrant is considered by many to be the most beautiful Schooner ever built. The model is mounted to a large mahogany panel. Migrant was designed by Henry Gielow, built at a cost of over 1 mil in 1929 by Geo. Lawley & Sons, Neponset, Massachusetts for Carl Tucker, of Manhattan, N.Y.
