About the Item

This authentic starfish fossil, or ophiuroid, belongs to the class Ophiuroidea and is closely related to starfish. These creatures move across the seabed by flexing their arms. The trilobites included are from the Ptychopariida order, a diverse group featuring some of the earliest known species dating back to the latter part of the Lower Cambrian period. Trilobites are characterized by facial sutures that extend along the edges of the glabella and/or fixigena to the junction where the cephalon meets the thorax.
