World War I US Navy Ships Binnacle

About the Item

Spectacular solid brass ships binnacle by Keuffel and Esser Company of New York in 1918. Builders plate is marked type VII no 1200, Bureau of Navigation, US Navy and dated 1918. This is an outstanding piece, meticulously polished and lacquered. The base is fitted with a full set of polished brass degaussing rings. The hood has a hinged portlight with glass, carry handles, and a large lantern on top. This monster weighs about 340 pounds. This is an amazingly well preserved United States Navy relic. The stories it could tell! Circa 1918.
