An American Children's Miniature Torah Scroll, Presented by the JNF, NY c. 1920
About the Item
A charming and historically rich artifact, this miniature Torah scroll was issued by קרן קימת לישראל (Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael / Jewish National Fund) in the early 20th century as a token of appreciation to a valued supporter in New York, in recognition of outstanding contributions to the cause of Geulat Ha’aretz—the JNF’s pivotal mission during the 1920s to acquire and reclaim land in Palestine for Jewish agricultural settlement and national rebirth.
The scroll itself is printed on paper, carefully wound onto a pair of traditionally carved wooden rollers, evoking the classic form of a full Torah scroll in miniature. It is dressed in a light blue cloth mantle, simply yet meaningfully embroidered with a yellow Star of David, capturing both the innocence of a child’s gift and the profound symbolism of Jewish continuity and hope.
This miniature Torah is housed in its original matching blue cardboard case, which still retains its authentic period label of dedication, proudly commemorating the recipient’s support and the JNF’s nation-building aspirations. These scrolls were often distributed to youth and community leaders as inspirational educational tools and mementos of involvement in the Zionist movement.
Rarely surviving in such complete and intact condition—with both the original textile mantle and labeled box—this scroll is a tangible link to early American Zionist activism and a poignant piece of Jewish-American and Israeli pre-state history.

Vintage Children's Toy Savings Bank "U.S. Mail". American, Circa 1920
By A.C. Williams Company
Located in Incline Village, NV
Children's Savings Coin Bank "U.S. Mail" bank , also known as a "still bank"; was American made, circa 1920. This is well made, sturdy, and all original. It is made of cast iron and hand painted in original green paint with gold highlighting. There is no repaint and no restoration.
The coins were deposited through the "letter depository"; lift the lever and drop in a coin (see image). When the bank is full, coins are removed by undoing the original square nut in back and the screw in front. Cast into two parts and now separated, the coins are easily collected. Put back together again to insure parts don't go missing (which happened often) and original screw and nut are maintained.
This bank was manufactured circa 1920 by the A.C. Williams Company, Chagrin Falls, Ohio. They made many cast iron toys, banks and other products during their time of operation until World War II.
The "U.S. Mail" bank is referenced on page 102 #853 in "The Penny Bank Book" by Andy and Susan Moore...
