Early 20th Century Algerian Palace-Shaped Brass Hanukkah Lamp
About the Item
Hanukkah lamp shaped like a palace, surmounted by Islamic crescent. Made in Laghouat, Algeria.
The Hanukkah lamp is made of two parts: a pierced and engraved brass in the shape of a palace, and a cooper sheet replicating the outlines of the palace, serving as a backplate for the lamp. The brass palace is formed of two 'floors,' each built out of columns and decorated with floral motives. In-between the columns, the candle holders appear: 8 in the lower part, and one for the servant light at the top section.
