About the Item

This is a Gothic style huge triptych shadow box/display of an Orthodox Church silver icons. The triptych is a large ogee shaped arc closed display made of heavy wood and glass. When you open the doors, it features some icons painted on wood and covered by an embossed and chased silver oklads with some gilt areas. They are framed by some red velvet. In the center, there are two icons who represent St.Paul and St.Peter; above them is the Almighty God. St.Paul is depicted with the sword in his right hand ( “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”-Ephesians6:11-12). St.Peter is featured holding some keys in his left hand (the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven). The right door is featuring a young St.John, The Baptist and the left door is featuring St.Michael, The Archangel . Both of them represented with large wings as Angels and/or Divine Messengers. St.Michael has also his armor because he is the leader of the heavenly armies. The triptych display closes with two swivel safety hasps, one in the top and the other one at the bottom of it. The doors are supposed to close with a key but it was bought as is.
