About the Item
A Louis XVI Period Barometer & Thermometer Combination, originating in France & dating from the last quarter of the 18th century. The workings enclosed by a gilt-wood case with carved designs of foliage & a tied bow capping the thermometer shaft.
The Barometer & Thermometer both no longer in working condition, but retaining their original glass fronts, tubing, & painted gauges. The charts are elegantly inscribed with atmospheric 'conditions' in French.
