About the Item

This antique mechanical toy is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in Europe, possibly England or Austria in approximately 1880 and done in the period Victorian style. The toy is a very large mechanically articulated white cat, which would have movement in the tail, legs and face. The clock work mechanism has been over wound, so is currently not working, but we do have a key that will fit the mechanism, which we include. Given the size and complexity of this toy, it would have been very expensive and only afforded by the most affluent of the period.
