About the Item
Gorgeous pair of multi sommerso art glass obelisks by Luigi Onesto for Murano Glass, circa 1996. The pair are in very good vintage condition with one small scratch on the backside of the taller piece - (please see pictures) and measure 5.5"D x 16.5"H and 4.5"D x 12"H, respectively; created and signed by renowned Murano artist Luigi Onesto. Rare and very hard to find in a matching pair. #4214
Luigi Onesto
Luigi Onesto was born in Murano into a glass-making family. At the age of 15 he begins to learn the secrets of glass as an apprentice at Gambaro & Poggi, one of the oldest and most famous glass factories on the island.
In 1978, he established his own glass art studio, the Vetreria Artistica Oball. His elegant vessels, bottles and objects are created by the technique called sommerso which incorporates layers of different colours.
Luigi Onesto is now joined by his sons Fabio and Michele.
