About the Item

Exquisite glass Murano obelisk signed by master glass blower Romano Dona. Black Murano glass resting on transparent Murano glass balls. Romano Donà grew up in a family with centuries of experience in glassmaking. He entered the kiln business at an early age, beginning his apprenticeship at the F.lli Manfren company where he worked also with his father. In 1975 he began working with the master Livio Seguso with whom he worked for twenty years in order to master his skills while learning from important artists like Henry Mavrodin, Federica Marangoni, Mimmo Rotella and Ugo Marano. He specialized with glass sculpture and in 1987 he won the Premio Murano award for glass masters. In 1997 Romano began working at Stefano Toso Glassworks, where he created his own original pieces while proceeding with challenging cooperation with renowned artists who gave him new ideas and energy.
