Twelve Panel Chinoiserie Screen
About the Item
12 Panels / Each Panel: 84" H x 13" W x 1" D
+ One of the most exquisite pieces that we have ever offered
+ The painterly detail, brushwork, imagery and palette are stunning
+ Screen is estimated to be c.1930's but could very well be substantially older
+ Landscape is made up of a variety of birds and foliage
+ Background is a dark tobacco brown, with slight variation in darkness from left to right
+ Color palette of imagery is subtle and sophisticated: metallic pale gold and copper with very fine black brushwork
+ Bottom of each panel has a pair of stepped feet which are capped in dark metal
+ Panels are connected with a very unusual mechanism instead of a traditional hinge; metal pin goes through two holes, enabling a complete dismantling of the entire screen
+ Reverse side has overall pattern of flowers and circular ornaments in metallic gold
+ Screen can be folded in a variety of ways or mounted on the wall (please note "Image 2" for example of screen completely flat; also, distressed look in the third 1/4 of this image is a result of photographic glare and NOT a flaw)
+ Signed by the artist on the twelth panel
+ Please see additional listing of the reverse side of the screen for more images
