Italian early 1900s brown leather cardboard travel trunk with key, early 1900s Rectangular travel trunk in cardboard and brown leather. The interior is lined with beige paper, this trunk can be placed vertically and used as a coat hanger thanks to a telescopic metal rod on which hangers can be hung. There are two dark brown leather handles, on the shorter side there is the locking mechanism with a working key. Early 1900s, Italian State Railways labels present. Vintage condition, with clear signs of use and aging, lack of material and oxidation. This handsome Spanish trunk was crafted circa 1780 and features a domed wooden frame clad in hand-stitched leather, richly decorated with large and small brass nailheads in a rhythmic, geometric pattern. The ornamentation reflects the cuero claveteado tradition, an iconic technique of Spanish and Spanish Colonial craftsmanship. The hinged lid opens to reveal a divided wood interior, originally intended for storing valuables or personal effects. Original iron hardware, including strap hinges, lockplate, and key, remains intact (lock not working however).
