About the Item

Gorgeous magazine rack in wicker designed by Campo & Graffi in Italy in the 1950s. This iconic magazine rack is in amazing conditions, the wicker is hand-woven around the black enameled base without the use of screws. The lovely bent feet ensure a perfect balance and make this rack incredibly elegant. Fully hand-made with perfect proportions, the wickerwork of this rack is exceptional. A great example of organic Italian mid-century design. A stunning piece perfect to enhance a Mid-Century living room or a modern organic patio. Dimensions (cm): Width 54 Depth 38 Height 52 The Italian duo, Franco Campo and Carlo Graffi, were course mates at the Politecnico di Torino and were studying under the famous designer, Carlo Mollino. Following their graduation in 1950, they collaborated with Professor Mollino on architecture and design projects. In Campo and Graffi’s earlier works, the influence of Mollino is evident with their use of supine curves and organic materials. In 1956 they started producing furniture under the brand Home. Following the opening of their ground-breaking furniture atelier, their works were often published in trade magazines. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Campo and Graffi’s designs were highly influential in the field of design.
