About the Item

This is a beautiful large Scottish Paisley Kashmir Shawl that dates to c. 1890 - 1900. This textile is in a very good state of preservation with only a few minor losses to the fringed ends. This shawl was designed in a slightly muted colors and displays good movement in its patern. Paisley textiles and later examples are timeless decorative elements that can be adapted to numerous design formats. We have added a second Paisley Shawl to our inventory which is listed separately.

Scottish Lignum Vitae Carpet/Lawn Ball II

This a good example of a 19th century Scottish Lignum vitae carpet or lawn ball. Lignum Vitae is one of the hardest woods and has always been the wood of choice for carpet, lawn and bocce balls. The ball is detailed with the inlaid engraved bone initials "SA" at one side and a bone circle a the other. The stand can be exchanged for a shorter stand.
