H&R Daniel Teacup Trio, White, Floral, Etruscan Shape, Regency circa 1825
By H&R Daniel
Located in London, GB
This is a rare and beautiful teacup trio made by H&R Daniel in about 1825. The set is potted in the "Etruscan" shape and is decorated in a white ground with a beautiful floral pattern and gilt anthemion sprigs. The trio consists of a teacup, a coffee cup and a saucer. In the 19th Century that's how cups and saucers were sold; as you would never drink tea and coffee at the same time, why invest in an extra saucer?
We have a matching cake plate as well, please see separate listing.
The H & R Daniel porcelain factory was founded by Henry Daniel, son of a family of master colour makers. He headed up the decoration department in the famous Spode factory where he oversaw all the beautiful early Spode decorations. In 1822 he opened his own factory with his son Richard, creating a truly iconic body of work with the most subtle colours and beautifully painted flowers and landscapes.
The Daniel factory was the last true cottage industry among the English porcelain factories, resisting the increase of industrialisation and mass production. This resulted in extraordinary and unrivalled quality, but it probably also led to the factory having to close its doors in 1846 because it could no longer compete with others who did modernise. Daniel porcelain can be hard to identify as the factory was only around for about two decades, but this short duration and the low output also means that Daniel items have become true collectors' items.
This set is potted in the "Etruscan" shape, a neoclassical shape with a strikingly angular handle and a graceful classical shape.
The set is unmarked except the faded pattern number 3863 on the coffee cup, which points to a date of 1825.
A picture of this pattern can be seen on plate 34 of Michael Berthoud and Lybne Price's "Daniel Patterns on Porcelain".
CONDITION REPORT The set is in perfect antique condition except some very light rubbing as visible in the pictures.

Antique Victorian Solid Silver Gilt Naturalistic Leaf Spoon Pair, 1842
By Sebastian Crespel II
Located in London, GB
We are delighted to offer this fine and exquisite pair of early Victorian solid silver tea spoons made in London 1842 with the maker's mark of Sebastian Crespell.
The pair features a highly ornate and desirable 'naturalistic' design with the entirety of the spoon-shaped as a leaf and branch.
Intricate engravings on the leaf bowls and the realistic form of the stem/branch indicate a high level of craftsmanship and artistry by the silversmith. Upon close inspection, the asymmetric and naturally flowing design is further apparent and is a delightful touch.
Not only are these spoons practical for a wide variety of uses from tea to desserts, but are a modest yet discerning addition to any collection or interior decor for a sophisticated and nature-inspired look.
The pair is gilded with a yellowish/lemon hue that has been worn and patinated in a very attractive colour/tone.
A full set of English hallmarks are present on the reverse side of the bowl.

Antique Edwardian English Sterling Silver Bevelled Edge Table Mirror, 1903
Located in London, GB
Wonderful antique Edwardian round bevelled edge table mirror, featuring classic sterling silver all over repousse decoration with flowers, leaves and scrolls. There is a plain centre cartouche to the front, and a hinged easel to the back. Mounted on a faded fabric reverse, which was originally blue velvet.
Measuring height 24.5cm / 9.6 inches by width 20.2cm / 7.95 inches.
The frame is stamped with an anchor, a lion, and the date letter is 'd'. The makers mark is HH&S for Henry Hobson & Sons. This means that the silver mirror is sterling silver, assayed in Birmingham, England and is dated 1903.
The mirror is in very good condition, the lovely silver frame has some denting and scratching. The reverse is in unrestored condition, and is very worn, it is slightly loose to the right of the mirror. The hinge works well.
This beautiful and stylish antique silver mirror...

Contemporary Monument Table Lamp - Square in Travertine, Solid Steel and Glass
By Louis Jobst
Located in London, GB
Monument Lamp - Square with Honed Roman Travertine, Solid Steel Billet and handblown Opal Matte Glass
Louis Jobst' Monument Lamp - Square is high quality, bespoke and handmade using solid raw materials. The base is finished with a black patina and cut from 90mm thick steel billet. Markings from the process are visible and intentionally left, exposing the character of the material. A square block of Travertine slots into the steel base. The opal glass diffuser is hand blown with a matte finish.
The concept was to design a lamp triptych (circle, triangle and square) made out of high quality materials for a formal interior space. A triptych of varying forms, colors and textures could create a 'common ground' throughout a space, whilst also working as individual lamps. Inspiration has come from architectural forms such as monoliths and monuments, implemented through the design with heavy, robust materials and simple geometric forms. The lamps consist of stacked shapes, designed like a small column...
