Moooi large ivory fold rug in wool with blind hem finish by Celia Hadeler
Celia Hadeler is a contemporary artist, based in The Netherlands. Her work consists of contradictions and contrast. Being of both Peruvian and German descent, Celia is a product of contrasting cultures that come together in her work. During her art studies at Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam and Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, she has developed a great taste combining old and new techniques which she presents in her Folds.
Folds… they are everywhere: a napkin on the table, the clothing you wear, or a bag floating in the wind. I find them fascinating and beautiful. The simple and unexpected compositions of the Folds attract my attention. I isolate and magnify a fold to create a unique and stunning new shape. By applying the ‘trompe l’oeil’ technique, they appear almost threedimensional but this is an optical illusion.
