Extra Long Runner Rug Karabakh

About the Item

This is an extra long Karabakh (Qarabağ) Runner Rug Antique woven circa 19th century. A very rare Karabagh carpet with the “Goradis” design. There are still very heated discussions about the origins of the filling pattern of this carpet. Some say it is a stylization of the “scorpion” motif. Rugs attributed to this area often feature a staggered angular comet pattern that may derive from the boteh pattern. Between these motifs, arranged in alternating direction, well-modulated delicate filling motifs. The main border runs neat and well defined across the entire frame. A very rare and well preserved carpet. Explore our collection of amazing Caucasian rugs.
