About the Item

Antique Afghan runner rug handwoven from the finest sheep’s wool. It’s colored with all-natural vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets. It’s a traditional Bashir design handwoven by expert artisans. It’s a lovely runner rug that can be incorporated with virtually any home interior design. It has a dimension of 2'3" x 18'5" which works well for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms.  Bashir or Beshir rugs are crafted by weavers from the Beshir tribe of Turkmen origins. They were among the first settlers of the region in Turkmenistan along the Amu Darya or Amu River. When conflict began with the Balkans in the 17th century, the tribe began migrating to Afghanistan. What made the rugs created in Bashir style was the distinctive mix of floral patterns as opposed to the more traditional geometric details Turkmen rugs are known for. IMPORTANT: ACTUAL RUG COLORS MAY VARY FROM PICTURES & DESCRIPTION. YOU MAY REQUEST ADDITIONAL PHOTOS/VIDEOS OR CONTACT US FOR CONFIRMATION BEFORE PURCHASE.
