About the Item

This is an antique Karabagh gallery size runner, circa 1890s. It is a beautifully woven, lavish rug with exceptional composition. An exquisite red diamond medallion sits at the centre of a deep navy blue field with four ivory corners in a color story of reds, blues, greens, orange and salmon coral. An intricate arrangement of floral motifs repeats across the entire surface of the rug while large turtle vinescrolls border the field and provide a strong visual frame. This rug is definitely a beautiful and intriguing piece.
