About the Item

This antique vintage Moroccan rug came from the central middle Atlas mountains. This a rare example of a shag with a black background and bold, vibrant colors. It was an authentic Berber piece that is a beautiful example of an antique rug that is still of contemporary style. With varying designs and a fabulous multicolor border, this rug has a playful, yet sophisticated look. The jewel-tones of violet, purple, orange, blue and red all dance together to create almost stained glass like appearance. There is an infinite amount of variation and movement within the pattern, making it a majestic piece. It has fringe on one end. It is made of handspun wool from sheep in the high mountains. This rug has a thick shag of lustrous soft wool with dense pile and solid structure. The glossy wool and saturated colors give this rug a captivating effect. In excellent condition for its age and is a fine collectible rug. A one of a kind, unique handmade carpet. The colors and design remind one of the blooming pastures and flowers of the Middle Atlas mountains in spring. Perfect for contemporary use, whether in a midcentury modern space or a contemporary interior. Also could be used as a tapestry or wall hanging. This Moroccan carpet is part of Carini Carpets Moroccan carpet collection specially curated by Joseph Carini. On his travels around the world, Carini curates a collection of fine and rare vintage textiles and rugs, forming Joseph Carini's Private Reserve Collection. He is enamored by ancient techniques, natural dyes, and cultural symbology. Dimensions: 5' (W) x 9'3" (L) Materials: Wool Reference #33336
