About the Item
Beniourain Carpets: The Elegance of the Berber Tradition
Beniourain carpets are among the most prestigious Berber carpets, renowned for the contrast between natural white wool and deep black. Handcrafted by Berber Women of the Middle Atlas tribes, these rugs were originally created to meet the needs of the nomads of Morocco. With their generous size, they were perfect as flooring in Berber tents. Today, Beni ourain carpets fit perfectly into modern settings, becoming unique design elements.
Materials and Traditional Knotting
Made entirely of natural wool, these rugs do not use artificial dyes, but rely on the black color of the yarn to enrich the design with symbolic motifs typical of the Tuaregh tribes. The softness of untreated wool makes them especially suitable for fighting the harsh desert cold. In addition, the traditional Berber knotting gives these rugs a unique strength and versatility, making them usable on both sides.
Design and Symbolism
Beniourain carpets feature simple, linear designs with tribal motifs that include geometric patterns of lozenges, crosses and lines that are repeated across the surface. These motifs convey symbolic meaning, reflecting the culture and spirituality of the nomadic peoples of the Sahara. The colors, usually natural colors such as brown, beige and black, give the carpet an understated and timeless beauty.
A Valuable and Versatile Rug
Perfect for modern and traditional settings, Beniourain rugs are ideal for adding a touch of authenticity and comfort in spaces such as living rooms, bedrooms and offices. Due to their durability and the softness of wool, they are also suitable for more demanding spaces, such as the bathroom or kitchen. Whether it's a modern living room rug, a vintage green rug or a modern living room rug, Beniourain rugs easily fit into any setting.
