About the Item
20471 Vintage Taznakht Moroccan Rug, 04'09 x 09'00.
Witness the enduring allure of this hand-knotted wool vintage Taznakht Moroccan rug— a carpet woven with distinctive styles, creating mesmerizing geometric designs that echo the rich cultural history of Taznakht. Embracing nomadic charm, the earthy color palette of warm browns, vibrant reds, blues, and accented with green and yellow hues pays homage to the diverse landscapes of Morocco.
Divided into three distinct compartments, this vintage Taznakht Moroccan rug unfolds a visual narrative steeped in cultural significance. At the heart, a large-scale dark brown stepped lozenge medallion takes center stage, surrounded by Elibelinde motifs on a sandy-beige backdrop. Horizontal bands adorned with nesrani motifs flank either side, while rows of eight-point stars, expanding X-shapes, and V-shapes grace the periphery. Deceptively simple, each motif holds profound meaning in Moroccan culture.
The nesrani-motif symbolizes the inception of life or the arrival of a newborn, while the X-shapes and V-shapes resonate with themes of womanhood, fertility, and conception. A symbolic touch is added with a green and coffee-colored snake motif at one end, intertwining with layers of cultural symbolism.
Framed by a checkered border, the deliberate placement of male motifs on the outer edges, enclosing the female motifs, is a symbolic representation of fertility, protection, and the sanctuary of family life. This vintage Moroccan rug not only carries a depth of meaning but also presents it in a bold, vibrant form, making it a captivating addition to contemporary interiors.
The blend of nomadic charm, ancient symbolism, and Folk Art warmth encapsulated in this vintage Moroccan rug reflects the collective wisdom of generations, embodying cultural beliefs that have withstood the test of time.
Rendered in variegated shades of beige, brown, coffee, brick red, light blue, yellow and green with other accent colors.

Taznakht Moroccan rugs are handwoven textiles originating from the Taznakht region in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, crafted by Berber women using traditional techniques passed down through generations. These rugs are characterized by vibrant colors derived from natural dyes, intricate tribal designs, and geometric patterns, showcasing the rich heritage of the region. Made from high-quality wool sourced locally, Taznakht rugs exhibit durability, softness, and resilience.
