About the Item
A vibrant and artful vintage American Amish rag runner, handwoven in the early 1900s by Amish and Mennonite communities in Pennsylvania. This exceptional example of early American folk weaving features two wide multicolor bands composed of brilliant hues—pink, green, red, and yellow—set against a soft tan background. The simplicity of the composition, combined with its bold and rhythmic color play, gives this runner a surprisingly modern aesthetic.
Woven using repurposed fabric scraps, this piece embodies the spirit of sustainability and ingenuity. Though originally crafted for utilitarian use, the runner stands as a compelling work of folk art that bridges craft, culture, and design. Its long and narrow format (approx. 13.5 feet in length) makes it ideal for hallways, stair runners, or open-plan modern interiors where a pop of pattern and color is desired.
Please note: SKUs 1679, 1680, and 1681 feature identical design patterns and dimensions, allowing for coordinated or extended use in larger spaces.
