Antique 1900s Persian Malayer Rug with Herati Mahi Design, 7' x 10'

About the Item

This Herati Mahi (or "Fish") design Malayer carpet consists of a cotton warp, handspun wool weft and handspun wool hand-knotted pile. Measuring 7'3" x 10', it is an usual size for a Malayer and a rare find, as typically Malayers are found as either smaller pieces or runners. Its subdued pinks, oranges, taupes, creams and browns lend themselves beautifully to any decor and were all created using organic vegetal dyes. This rug is in excellent condition for an antique of its age and is a truly special one-of-a-kind improvisational piece.
