Antique Bidjar Long Rectangle
About the Item
Bidjars are known as the "iron "carpets of Asia, owing to the hammering of knots whilst weaving, which creates an unusual density to the carpet, and exceptional , multi generational durability .
This piece is distinctive for its rich and unusual design and colouration with its pale yellow corner and design composition usually found in much larger examples. Its central field is an exceptionally artistic statement with its prominent centre medallion offset by two identical globe features worth examining carefully: this is fine art weaving and design.
Please also observe the six borders, particularly the innermost as they move from formality into the flowing corner spaces. Excellent condition, and an unusual and versatile size for various places within the home. This Bidjar, one of the iron carpets of Asia, will withstand any amount of wear for two or more generations.
