About the Item
An antique Persian Afshar rug from the early 20th century. Vaguely insectoid unidirectional palmettes in mostly red and blue are displayed in seven rows on the ivory ground. This is a classic SE Persian Afshar design seen on saddlebags and scatter rugs alike. The narrow borders both display simplified palmette patterns. The weave is moderately close and the handle is firm.
