About the Item
Antique Persian area rug handwoven from the finest sheep’s wool. It’s colored with all-natural vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets. It’s a traditional Dorokhsh design handwoven by expert artisans. It’s a lovely area rug that can be incorporated with virtually any home interior design. It has a dimension of 9'9" x 12'5" which works well for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms.
Doroksh rugs originated in the hills of the Khorassan province of Iran bearing the same name. Its emergence is said to have marked the revival of the great Persian rug in the 19th century after years of war and chaos. Rug weavers took inspiration from designs of the 16th century and made them more extravagant as a way to promote their culture. This sparked the creation of many fine rugs that appealed greatly to the Western market.
