About the Item
Antique Persian area rug handwoven from the finest sheep’s wool. It’s colored with all-natural vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets. It’s a traditional Kolyai design handwoven by expert artisans. It’s a lovely area rug that can be incorporated with virtually any home interior design. It has a dimension of 3'11" x 6'3" which works well for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms.
Koliai rugs are made by the Kurds, an ancient Persian tribe in the province of Azerbaijan. Experts believe they have been in the area before the time of Christ and the evolution of rug patterns Kurdish weavers use is a testament to this. Older Kurdish rugs show a preference for garden motifs as well as the flaming palmette repeating patterns. Other versions show diamond patterns but Kurdish rugs almost always use vibrant and playful colors like sky blue, yellow and orange.
