Antique Persian Ashfar Rug circa 1930

About the Item

Handwoven in southern Persia this carpet is a beautiful example of Afshar tribe weaving. The solar Turkman gul dominate the center field surrounded with lots of tribal symbols. The soft wool used to make this carpet, both to make the foundation and knotting the pile gives the carpet a rather floppy feel. The three borders frame the carpet nicely. No restorations were found in this carpet and it is in excellent condition.
