Antique Persian Heriz circa 1930
About the Item
This carpet is handmade in the town of Heriz located northwest of Persia. The town of Heriz and its surrounding villages have formed one of the most prolific weaving centers in Persia for centuries.Heriz carpets have a cotton warp and double-cotton weft. Designs have remained unchanged for centuries with a huge cruciform medallion surrounded by simple, angular vines and spandrels within a samovar border.
This heriz had a rustic brown field and dark blue border.wears are consistent with its age.No restoration was found on this carpet and otherwise it is in very good condition. Measure: 10’6” x 13’6”.
