Eliko Rugs by David Ariel Antique Persian Mahal Rug, Purple Allover Field

About the Item

Mahal rugs, also known as Mahal carpets, are a style of hand-woven rugs originating from the Mahallat region of Iran. Mahal carpets are highly regarded for their quality and beauty. They are hand knotted using traditional techniques and typically feature intricate patterns and designs. These rugs often exhibit a rich color palette with vibrant reds, blues, and earthy tones. Floral motifs, medallions, and geometric patterns are commonly found in Mahal carpets. The designs are typically symmetrical and well-balanced, reflecting the craftsmanship and artistic skills of the weavers. Mahal rugs are made using high-quality wool, which contributes to their durability and longevity. Some may also incorporate silk accents, adding a touch of luxury to the design. These rugs are known for their soft and dense pile, which provides a comfortable texture underfoot. Although the term "Mahal rugs" may refer to something else specific or different, based on the information available, the Mahal carpets from the Mahallat region of Iran are a well-known and respected type of handmade rug. In this case, Eliko Rugs by David Ariel features a soft lavender field that presents a well-behaved, balanced alllover Herati design with various rosettes, palmettes, sickle leaves and open diamonds. The Herati is probably the most popular of Mahal carpet designs and works in any format, in any Size and is sympathetic to medallion and other layouts. The straw border features rosettes and turtle palmettes connected with curvaceous vinery, in the strip style. Lighter palette and generally good condition. Blue accents and a beige border.
