About the Item

Attractive and versatile vintage Persian Sarouk rug, first half 20th c. Low pile wool and silk, with red and blue pendant on an open cream field, geometric border. Dimensions: 5'11"L x 4'2""W Condition: Good, clean with little tread wear, some small edge tears and loss of fringe and weaving to one end. Provenance: The Estate of Peter Schub, New York Literature: Peter Schub had a long and distinguished career as a photography agent. He negotiated for some of the most prominent photographers of the 20th Century including Irving Penn, Peter Beard and Anthony Armstrong Jones.

20th century, India, a finely knotted silk Kashmir rug with, floral designs incorporating blues, greens, and neutrals on a light pink ground. There is a label remnant verso. Because of the high sheen, some portions of the rug seem darker than others. The colors of the rug are even throughout the rug. It is the interplay of light and silk threads that gives a luminal quality to the rug and imparts it a dark and a light side. Made of real silk, the rug has a high 350-400 kpsi (knots per square inch) count. Dimensions: approximately 72"l x 49"w Condition: Good, minimal wear observed.
