19th Century Persian Tribal Luri Bagface Repurposed as Nomadic Wall Art
Located in Barrington, IL
19th century Persian tribal Luri Tribal bagface repurposed as nomadic wall art. The Luri (the tribal name for people in the Fars province of western Persia) tribal bagface is from the late 1800s in a great condition especially since it was used as a traveling bag between different campsites. Mafrash describes a large carrying bag (duffel bag) made by tribes to move their large household items from one location to another during their seasonal moves from highlands to lowlands. The large designs and the vibrant colors in the body and border make this a beautiful piece to be displayed on the wall. Dimensions: 2' 8? x 3' 7? Date of Manufacture: 4th Quarter of the 1800s Place of Origin: SW Persia Material: Wool on a wool foundation with natural organic dyes dyes Condition: Wear consistent with age and use At The Persian Knot Gallery, we are also committed to sustainability and would like our clients to be delighted when they receive their purchases. Since the return shipping and transportation could add to the carbon footprint of the items, we would like to minimize returns if possible. 19th Century Persian Kerman Lavar Runner
Located in Barrington, IL
This exquisite Lavar Kerman runner from the late 1800s is a true rarity—both in format and artistry. Lavar Kerman rugs, renowned for their refined floral designs and exceptional craftsmanship, are seldom found in runner form, making this piece exceptionally desirable. The allover floral pattern is rendered in a sophisticated palette of French blue, soft pink, ivory, and rich red, gracefully woven into a field of timeless elegance. Perhaps the most unique feature is the exquisite border: a flowing arrangement of vibrant red flower bouquets set against an unusually rare green background—creating a stunning visual contrast and a harmonious frame for the composition. Woven in southern Persia in the historic city of Kerman—a major cultural and artistic center along the ancient Silk Road—this runner is not only a work of textile mastery but also a piece of living history. Its delicacy, balance, and palette reflect the artistic spirit of a region long celebrated for its contribution to Persian rug weaving.
