Vintage Persian Heriz Serapi Rug in Terracotta, French Blue, Green, Ivory, Red
Located in Barrington, IL
A striking example of village weaving artistry, this room-size Persian Heriz Serapi rug from the mid-1900s showcases the refined balance between traditional structure and expressive color use. The rug features a beautifully open field design anchored by a central medallion rendered in soft tones of light blue, pink, red, yellow, and green. The corner spandrels are executed in a refined French blue, while the abrash throughout—particularly in the blue, pink, green, and yellow areas—demonstrates the nuanced beauty of naturally aged vegetable dyes. With its luminous palette and masterful composition, this piece is ideal for interior designers and collectors seeking a sophisticated and historically rich statement rug for curated spaces. Ararat Rugs Garrus Bidjar Medallion Carpet 19th Century Revival Rug Natural Dyed
Located in Tokyo, JP
This is a central medallion carpet designed 19th century in Garrus ( Gerous or Garus ) region, Eastern Kurdistan area. Garrus is located in the foothills approaching the flatlands of Persia, Garrus has been a significant Kurdish city since antiquity when it was the capital of Media Minor. Important writers, scientists, and politicians from Garrus contributed to the Safavid dynasty, and it was a major commercial center. Garrus was more populous than Senna in the nineteenth century. As it was in the west of Persia, it was fortunate to escape the ravages of the Afghans and to a certain extent the economic incompetence of Nadir Shah. In the eighteenth century, it benefited from the lack of a centralized Persian government bent on collecting high taxes, and from the benign, decentralized rule of the Zands. The brilliant weaving school of Garrus, like that of Senna, did not develop in a vacuum in a process of deus ex machina...

Located in Tokyo, JP
The source of the carpet comes from the book 'Oriental Rugs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, by Dimand, Maurice S., and Jean Mailey, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1973, fig.90.' If the so-called vase-technique carpets represented the triumph of Safavid workshop weaving in the seventeenth century, another group of Safavid carpets, popularly, if erroneously, known as “Polonaise” or “Polish” carpets, demonstrates the extent to which Safavid weavers would go to create flashy and expensive objects of conspicuous consumption. Polonaise carpets...

Vintage Persian Shahsavan Soumak Saddle Blanket in Ivory, Lavender, Yellow, Blue
Located in Barrington, IL
This exquisite Soumak horse blanket from Northwest Persia is more than just a textile—it’s a window into a weaver’s world. Created over a century ago, the blanket features a free-form, expressive design that captures the spirit of its maker and the landscape in which they lived. Every motif, color, and variation reflects a personal and cultural narrative, woven by hand with intention and artistry. Originally woven for practical use as a horse blanket, saddlebag, or mafrash (bedding bag), this piece exemplifies the transformation of tribal utilitarian objects into timeless works of art. These items once served essential roles in nomadic village life, and today they enrich modern interiors with their depth, texture, and heritage. A true collector’s textile, this Soumak weaving invites us to imagine the lives of those who created and used it, offering a connection to distant lands and traditions. Whether displayed as wall art, draped over furniture, or thoughtfully layered into an interior space, it brings history, craftsmanship, and storytelling into the home.
