Vintage Persian Tabriz in Gol Farang Pattern in Navy Blue. Red, French Blue

The vintage Tabriz room size rug is in a "Gol Farang (Foreign Flower)” design. This is a rare design in a Tabriz rug. Although the Gol Farang pattern is usually associated with the rugs from Bidjar, other rug weaving centers might use it when the rug is custom ordered by a client requesting the pattern. It is also thought that the design might also be a variation on the French Aubusson design carpet the Shah of Persia had seen and liked very much while visiting one of the palaces in Europe. The design is set in an “abrash (variation in colors caused by the use of organic dyes)" navy blue & French blue colors in the field with a brick red color border with a ram's horn design. The carpet design is very beautiful and each flower comes in various shades of cream, blue, and red colors.

Late 19th century Persian Bidjar in a medallion geometric pattern. The rug has an open field design set on a rich carnelian red background with the central medallion in navy blue with a Herati pattern. A symmetric small medallion with a fantastic design set in a robin’s egg blue background with designs in pink, yellow, and red add to the uniqueness of the design. The corner spandrels have the same color palette and design as the central medallion. The field is beautifully framed with an abrash robin’s egg blue border with designs in green, yellow, pink. The Bidjar rugs are renowned for their very tight, high knot count, great designs and finally wonderful colors and this rug is no exception. They are so tightly woven that they are often referred to as “The Iron Rugs of Persia”!

19th century Persian tribal Luri Tribal bagface repurposed as nomadic wall art. The Luri (the tribal name for people in the Fars province of western Persia) tribal bagface is from the late 1800s in a great condition especially since it was used as a traveling bag between different campsites. Mafrash describes a large carrying bag (duffel bag) made by tribes to move their large household items from one location to another during their seasonal moves from highlands to lowlands. The large designs and the vibrant colors in the body and border make this a beautiful piece to be displayed on the wall.

19th-Century Persian Kerman Lavar Area Rug in Floral Design in Ivory, Red, Blue

Mid 19th century Persian Kerman Lavar area rug in floral design with ivory, red, and French blue colors. The rug has a gorgeous design and wonderful color combination. The rug has a central medallion in navy blue and caramel with floral designs in red set on a floral design in red and French blue on an ivory background. The corner spandrels are in antique red and caramel. The border is in a cream color with flower design throughout. Although the rug is worn it still has the beauty and shows the craftsmanship of Lavar weavers in the mid 1800s. The village of Lavar is near the city of Kerman on the edge of the great desert in South East Persia. Lavar carpets are world-renowned for their beauty in design and colors used which this carpet well represents.

19th century Persian Kurdish Tribal Bagface in Multicolor Geometrical Design Used as Nomadic Wall Art. It could have been either the face of a saddlebag or the side panels for a mafrash (large bag). It has kilim weaving and the soumak woven designs add to the decoration of the bag. The bag face and mafrash items started their lives as utilitarian items for the use by the village and tribal weavers and more than a century later they bring beauty and design as decorative items in our homes.

An early 1900s hand-woven persian Kashan floral design area rug in a rare ivory color background. The classical design and luminous, resilient wool quality of this outstanding vintage Persian Kashan carpet create an impression of consummate refinement. This Kashan rug has a very rare and desirable ivory color field with a major accent color of French blue, pink, and red throughout the field and border. A small central medallion is in navy blue and red with flora design in navy blue, baby blue, and cream colors. The border is navy blue. Standing back and looking at the rug’s design and the color scheme makes this a magnificent piece for the floor or a wall display.

A Persian Senneh area rug in an allover paisley pattern in a pale latte, chocolate brown, and French blue colors was very finely woven in a Kurdish village in the Western Persia around the 3rd quarter of the 1800s. The beautiful Senneh has a wonderfully designed center medallion with a chocolate brown background. The primary border is in a French blue color. This is a classic Senneh pattern that has survived and thrived over centuries. Beautiful combination and a masterpiece design and the use of colors throughout.

A vintage Persian Malayer runner in geometric pattern in camelhair, burgundy, rust red, and ivory colors. This Persian Camelhair Malayer hand knotted rug is truly a masterpiece of village weaving from the late 1800s. A large elongated hexagonal medallion set in a camelhair color field provides a beautiful design. The Malayer camelhair has a wonderful border consisting of geometric designs in brilliant colors of red, green, yellow, blue set in a dark red border color. The Malayer can be used either as an area rug or a runner depending on the specific design plan for a space.
