This idyllic midcentury Scandinavian rug captures the colors and style of this chic, fashion-forward era. Ivory, lichen green, persimmon and warm wood-tones fit the archetypal midcentury color palette and increasingly vibrant tastes in interior decorations. The open, sparsely decorated composition focuses on graphic borders dotted with rectilinear gentian flowers that complement the fiery orange field. These strong, intensely colored spaces are accented with a wonderful assortment of variegated stripes that incorporate a multitude of colors and give the flat-weave surface a rough ribbed appearance. Tufts of celadon pile highlight the perimeter of the dominant borders, further exploring the interplay of color and texture. This phenomenal vintage flat-weave rollaken embodies Scandinavian Folk Art traditions and the stylistic influences of talented domestic weavers who had extreme technical skills and the best training.
