Rob Parry "Squares" Rug for Danish Carpets, Netherlands, circa 2000

About the Item

A beautiful Minimalist rug designed by Rob Parry, manufactured by Danish Carpets in The Netherlands, circa 2000. This model is named "Squares". The rug is overall grey, with a few squares in black, blue, teal, fuschia and white. These colours match together amazingly well and contrast very nicely to their grey background. Rob Parry's signature is woven into the fabric, very visible in the corner as a playful finishing touch. This decorative rug would make an amazing addition to the interior! In good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a wonderful patina. Rob Parry (born in The Hague, Netherlands, 1925) studied at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague where his most important teachers were Cor Alons, Paul Schuitema and Gerrit Rietveld, whom Parry worked for. It was Rietveld’s firm that laid the foundation for Parry’s interest in exhibition design. In 1950, Rob Parry started his own firm. Emile Truijen was his design partner from 1954-1958. Together they developed a myriad of designs, including one of the icons of Dutch design: the double post box. Up until 1995, he designed interiors, furniture, stands, exhibitions, jeweler, lettering and toys. In his designs, Rob Parry experimented with new materials and techniques. Designs by Rob Parry are included in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, the Museum for Communication in The Hague and the Stedelijk Museum in’s Hertogenbosch.
