1960 Pair of Armchairs by Pierre Paulin model F444 for Artiflort

About the Item

Original pair of model F444 lounge chairs designed by Pierre Paulin and manufactured by Artifort in 1963. The armchairs feature a sturdy steel frame upholstered in beautiful cognac-colored leather (the cover has been redone identically). The high backrest offers excellent support. Delicate in appearance, the armchairs are in fact very stable and lightweight. Their shape is not only aesthetically pleasing, it's designed to fit your body comfortably. The black frame bears the Artifort metal label. In the 1960s, when this chair first saw the light of day, designers were experimenting with new concepts. The F444 chaise longue is an excellent example of this spirit. The way it is built is also very particular. Pierre Paulin is one of the greatest exponents of French design. He is known for his modern spirit and the alliance he has created between rigor and the organic. He draws his inspiration and influences from Scandinavian furniture, Japanese styles and the work of the Eames couple. His furniture is characterized by simplicity, functionality and durability.
