JACOB EGEBERG AMPHIBIOUS CORNER ARMCHAIR / LIGHT YELLOW MATERIALS Styrofoam & soft PU foam, hard & elastics pigmented _____________________________ Jacob Mathias Egeberg (b. 1992, Denmark) is a Copenhagen-based designer who completed his Master of Arts at The Royal Danish Academy in 2020. Egeberg has received international attention for his vibrant work and his unconventional take on domestic interior and retail design. Through his unique and often colourful approach to industrial techniques and materials, he produces functional objects as a means of storytelling and challenges boundaries within the field of contemporary design. The Amphibious seatings, “Suited for both land and water” referring to a an amphibious vehicle. This furniture is an all terrain lounge collection, working for both indoor and outdoor climate. Using industrial methods this versatile furniture is both light in weight as well as water resistant. With a minimalistic approach yet complex in its form. These pieces draws inspiration from brutalist architecture, big industries, industrial manufacturing, even a shipping container itself ready to be moved. Camouflaged as heavy and hard, yet its light in and soft, this furniture collection is playing with our preconceived notions of how comfortable lounge seatings should appear. With contrasts in textures and juxtapose materiality, the high polished and the rough surfaces meets in sharp graphic lines. Serving a different take on what lounge furniture could feel like.
