About the Item

After studying visual arts at the Marseille School of Fine Arts, Claude Vassal began his career working for interior designer René Gabriel. He then began creating furniture and founded in 1959, with Pierre Paulin and Michel Ducaroy, the collective "Les Trois Petits Cochons", which presented his creations in group exhibitions. In 1967, he created his own design studio, where he worked on projects for prestigious brands such as Airborne, Habitat, and Ligne Roset. He is also known for having designed products for the airline Air France, such as flight attendant uniforms and cabin equipment. During his career, Claude Vassal received numerous awards for his creations, including the Grand Prix National de la Création Industrielle in 1994 and the special jury prize of the Compasso d'Oro in 1995. He was also elected to the Academy of Fine Arts in 1997. Claude Vassal left an indelible mark in the world of design, thanks to his elegant and innovative creations, which marked their era.
