Carl Malmsten Häggbom Armchair, Newly Produced, Designed in, 1951

About the Item

Many of the items of furniture created by Carl Malmsten were made to order. The item would often be given the name of the person placing the order. In this case the Häggbom armchair was designed for the city architect of the time, Sven Häggbom in Gävle. You can almost see how Carl Malmsten tried to capture the client's character in the furniture. Framework made of solid pine from Swedish forests. The seat has a double-spring interior with a combination of nozag and spiral springs. The padding consists of cold foam, polyether and fibrefill. The cushions are filled with a mixture of waterfowl feather and synthetic down. The legs are made from solid oak. All production is done at O.H. Sjögren’s factory in Tranås, Sweden. The name of the fabric is Fiord and is produced by Kvadrat in Norway. The fabric has a composition of 92% wool and 8% nylon and has a martindale of 60.000.
