Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Scholar's Lamp Hanger Armchair with Carved Splat

About the Item

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period wooden scholar's lamp-hanger armchair from the 19th century, with carved splat, curving arms and brown patina. Created in China during the Qing dynasty, this scholar's lamp-hanger chair features an elegant tall back, topped with a curving rail. The central section presents a concave-shaped pierced splat, adorned with a hand-carved medallion showcasing a dragon motif. Two sinuous open arms with swan neck supports are sitting on a rectangular wooden seat, while the armchair is raised on four straight legs connected to one another through a carved apron in the front. The perfect contrast of shapes of the upper section, opposing the concave silhouette of the splat and the convex lines of the lateral supports, combined with the elegant decor, will make this 19th century wooden Chinese scholar's lamp-hanger armchair a perfect decorative accent for any home, perhaps placed in an office, bedroom or living room.
