Customizable 209 Bentwood Chair by Gebrüder T, 1819
About the Item
RANGE 209
This elegant bentwood classic is a masterpiece in its construction and production: the projecting frame that forms both the backrest and armrest is bent into its form from a single piece of solid beechwood. Like the original model of all bentwood chairs, no. 214, chair no. 209 also consists of only six parts. Due to its aesthetic reduction in combination with the organic form, it almost looks like a sculpture. Swiss architect Le Corbusier was fascinated with it and used it in many of his buildings, for example the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart in 1927. He confirmed that "... this chair has nobility." It is produced in our Frankenberg facility.
Open back or with backrest. Seat and backrest with cane work or covered with leather or fabric. Seat also available as moulded plywood seat. All wooden parts in stained beech. Also available in "Pure Materials" versions.

Customizable Gebruder T S 43 PVF Cantilever Armchair by Mart Stam
By Mart Stam

Range S 43
Simplicity that unfolds its effect everywhere: Mart Stam removed the back legs from furniture that for centuries had been created based on the same principles. Through evolutionary refinement, an object that simply looks good in any place where both understatement and quality are wanted. For his furniture designs, Mart Stam placed a high value on usefulness and austerity with regard to aesthetics as well as material. The straight-lined form, a clear construction and improved sitting comfort resulted from this approach. Stam achieved the greatest possible reduction with the cantilever chair S 43 by combining the tubular steel frame with moulded wood elements for seat and backrest. The pure, restrained form of this cantilever chair makes it an exemplary design in the spirit of modernism...
