Danish "The Spanish Chair" by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia Furniture Model 2226

About the Item

A later edition of the iconic "Spanish Chair" designed by Børge Mogensen’s in 1958 and manufactured for Fredericia. This version is made from solid oak combined with the highest calibre saddle leather which over time will become even more beautiful as it wears with age. The colour of the leather is called "cognac" The armchair has been restored and waxed. There is a small chip on one arm on the inside edge towards the back of the armchair. The leather is almost new apart from a scuff in the centre where a belt may have scratched it and a small dirt mark in the back corner. Structurally it's very sound and incredibly well made. The tanned leather seat and back rest are removable with easy release metal buckles. The leather seat has a canvas backing. The saddle straps can be released or tightened as the leather expands over time and through its use. This is a stunning chair that stands out and makes a statement in any space but as time goes by it will evolve beautifully as the patins changes and grows richer with every passing year.
